Frequently Asked Questions

  1. A few things to know:
Wallpaper will not correct uneven walls; in some cases, it can accentuate them.
Natural materials like Grasscloth have inherent variation; it’s part of the beauty and nature of it!
Extra rolls or some extra wallpaper (we refer to it as Attic stock) is strongly recommended.
We typically book 4-6 weeks in advance; however, you can ask to be put on our "reschedule" list as things do change moderately as we deal with alot of renovation and construction projects.
Peel & Stick products are designed for DIY, vary in quality, and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  2. How is wallpaper installation priced?
Wallpaper installation is typically priced by the square foot rather than by the roll or by the hour. This allows for clear, upfront pricing based on the scope of the project, the type of paper, and the complexity of the installation.

  3. What affects the cost of installation?
    Several factors influence installation:
    ● Wall condition and preparation needs
    ● Ceiling height
    ● Architectural details (arches, windows, niches)
    ● Pattern alignment requirements
    ● Paper material (grasscloth, vinyl, hand-trimmed, etc.)
*More complex papers and spaces require additional planning and precision.

  4. Do we provide wallpaper or only installation?

  5. How much wallpaper should I order?

  6. What is a pattern repeat & why does it matter?
The pattern repeat refers to how often the design repeats vertically. Match type (straight, half drop, full drop) affects layout planning and material usage. Some patterns require additional material to align correctly. For example, large repeats will translate to requiring more paper for an installation.

  7. Do walls need to be prepared prior to installation?
Yes. Walls should be smooth, clean, properly primed, and free of texture or debris. Proper preparation is essential for adhesion and long-term performance.
We can advise on preparation requirements before installation day.

  8. How long does installation take?
Most standard rooms take 1–2 days, depending on size and complexity. Specialty materials or detailed spaces may require additional time.

  9. What about the seams?
Wallpaper is installed in panels/strips, and seams are a natural and necessary part of the process. While installation is done with precision and care to ensure clean, tight alignment, wallpaper is not a seamless product.
When installed correctly, seams should be straight, secure, and minimally visible. Certain materials — especially natural fibers like grasscloth or hand-crafted papers — may show more variation at panel edges, which is considered part of the product’s character, not a flaw.
Our goal is always a beautifully aligned installation that honors both the material and the design intent.

  10. Understanding Grasscloth?
Grasscloth is a natural fiber wallcovering made from handwoven grasses and fibers adhered to a paper backing. Its organic texture and depth are what give it its warmth and dimensional beauty — and also what make it inherently different from printed wallpaper.
Because it is a natural material, variation is expected and normal.
    Panel Shading & Color Variation
Each panel is cut from a continuous roll, but natural fibers absorb dye differently. This can create visible shading or panel-to-panel variation. These subtle shifts in tone are not defects — they are part of grasscloth’s character.
Grasscloth should be appreciated for its organic movement, not uniformity.
    Visible Seams
Unlike printed wallpaper, grasscloth cannot be pattern-matched or disguised at the seams. Panel edges may be slightly more visible due to natural fiber thickness, dye variation, light reflection

  11. Do you install Peel & Stick?

Peel-and-stick wallpaper is a self-adhesive product originally designed for DIY and temporary applications.
While it can be appealing for short-term use, it behaves very differently from traditional pasted wallcoverings. Because it relies on pressure-sensitive adhesive rather than professional primer and paste systems, it can be more prone to lifting at seams, shrinking or expanding, poor adhesion on certain wall finishes (bubbles), and difficulty achieving clean, stable seams.
For these reasons, peel-and-stick products are generally best suited for temporary installations and lower-traffic environments.
As professional installers, we specialize in traditional wallcoverings that are installed with proper surface preparation and adhesive systems to ensure long-term performance and a refined finish.
Peel & Stick will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

  12. Can wallpaper be removed later?

Most modern wallpapers are designed to be removable, though removal depends on wall prep and adhesive type used during installation. We work diligently to create an environment conducive to removal that will not cause damage to the walls in the future.

  13. Do we warranty our work?
We stand behind our workmanship. Manufacturer defects or product performance issues are handled directly through the wallpaper manufacturer, as we follow manufacturer specifications.

  • Yes, seams are typically visible upon close inspection. Wallpaper is installed in panels, and where those panels meet, a seam will naturally exist. A professional installation minimizes seam visibility, but seams should be expected as part of any wallpaper installation.

  • Yes. Wallpaper can perform beautifully in bathrooms when proper ventilation is present. Powder rooms are especially popular spaces for decorative wallcoverings.

  • Grasscloth is a natural wallcovering made from woven fibers. Due to the organic materials used, variations in color, texture, and visible panel seams are considered normal and part of its unique beauty.

  • No, but my best friend Julie at Drapers Papers does!

  • Yes. Clean, smooth, and properly primed walls create the best installation results. Additional wall preparation may be required depending on the condition of the surface.

  • Wallpaper quantities vary by pattern repeat, room dimensions, and material type. We are happy to assist with calculating the correct quantity before ordering.

  • Many manufacturers label wallpaper as single rolls while selling it in double-roll bolts. Because labeling can vary, we recommend providing the product information so we can verify the correct quantity.

  • Most residential projects can be completed within one to two days, depending on room size, wall conditions, and material complexity.

  • Yes. We offer wallpaper removal services and can evaluate existing conditions to determine the best removal process.

  • We recommend contacting us once your wallpaper has been ordered. Installation scheduling is finalized after materials have arrived and been inspected.
